Auto Draft 5

We are delighted to be winners at the Community Energy England Awards! Bristol & Bath Regional Capital won the Finance & Innovation Award alongside Ambition Community EnergyThrive Renewables, for our involvement in what will be England’s largest onshore wind turbine.

We’re proud to have played a part in getting this landmark 100% community-owned, renewable energy project off the ground & very pleased that it is getting so much (well deserved) recognition.

Once built, the wind turbine will be capable of generating enough power for about 3,000 homes – the equivalent to Lawrence Weston’s domestic use – and will save almost 120,000 tonnes of carbon emissions over its lifetime.

The project will provide a new revenue stream for the local community in Lawrence Weston, as all profits from electricity sales will be reinvested back into the area, acting as a driver for regeneration.

Find out more about the Community Wind Turbine project on page 10 of our City Funds Impact Report here.

In total 11 awards were presented at the awards ceremony, held at London’s new City Hall, as representatives from community energy organisations & their supporters celebrated the innovation, expertise & passion shown by the sector, united in their aim to create an energy system that is cleaner, greener & for the benefit of people over profit.

Congratulations to the other winners & huge thanks to Community Energy England for putting on such an inspiring event.
