Our Mission
City Funds is working to transform Bristol by funding solutions that target the causes and effects of inequality. A collaboration between Quartet Community Foundation, Bristol & Bath Regional Capital and Bristol City Council, City Funds uses its £10 million investment fund and aligned grants to strengthen organisations solving some of the biggest problems facing Bristol.

Our Focus Areas

Health & Wellbeing
We fund initiatives that contribute to positive health and wellbeing and address health inequalities in Bristol.
Community Initiatives
We fund community initiatives to help them play an impactful role in Bristol and develop community resilience.
Economic Inclusion
We fund initiatives that promote full participation and ownership in a diverse and local economy.
Environmental Transformation
We fund the transition to a carbon neutral, zero-waste city, that promotes the health of the natural environment.
Who we are
One of the first funds of its kind in the UK, City Funds brings together investment, grant and local authority support in a coordinated place-based approach to tackling inequality.
The City Funds Grant programmes are managed by Quartet Community Foundation which has a proven-track record in successfully inspiring philanthropy in the West for the last 32 years. Applications are assessed by a panel of independent members from the four Funding Priority areas. The grant application process is designed to be transparent, inclusive and collaborative.
The City Funds Investment programmes are managed by Bristol & Bath Regional Capital, an award-winning public benefit investment company which aims to spark change in Bristol using investment as a tool, whilst recycling profits by re-loaning and re-investing back in the community.
The local authority of Bristol, whose executive function is controlled by the mayor, invested the first £5 million into City Funds in 2019, which was matched by Big Society Capital for a total of £10 million.
Meet our Board
The City Funds Board is overseen by a Non-Executive Governing Board representing a cross-sector of Bristol's community, commercial, voluntary and public sector organisations. These positions are non-remunerated.
